Scholarship Application Process:

Scholarship applicants must fulfill the duties of cooperation required for the selection procedure. They must provide all documentation required to verify the suitability and performance requirements.

The following documents for the scholarship application must be uploaded in addition to the study application:

  • Scholarship application letter: (max. 1 MB, 1 page, min. Arial 11, PDF) with an explanation of why you are applying for a scholarship.
    • Reasons e.g.:
      • Support for highly gifted students
      • Educational fairness (special personal/social/family circumstances, e.g., educationally distant home)

The Scholarship holders commit themselves:

  • to immediately report any changes in their circumstances that are relevant to the granting of the scholarship
  • to provide proof of suitability and performance to be determined by the Academy during the funding period
  • to maintain regular scholarship reports in accordance with the Academy's current requirements
  • to participate organizationally and artistically in the regular benefit projects & events of the Academy
  • to participate in the music/ education research work of the Academy
  • to publish their study progress regularly in the music, research, and education media reports of the Academy
  • to name in their artistic career the scholarship according to the statutes
  • Missed individual lessons with professors cannot be made up. Missed class lessons can only be made up through the online campus recordings itself
  • Each lesson is recorded for the Academy's own online campus database for study, research, and educational purposes. The scholarship holder transfers the rights of all recordings without restriction for use and publication for all media forms, unrestricted in time and space. The scholarship holder may request that individual sequences will not be published in exceptional cases. However, this does not apply to the material in its entirety, entire teaching units, or to class lessons
  • If a leave of absence from studies of more than one month becomes necessary, e.g., for personal reasons like illness, pregnancy, raising children, caring for a close relative, the scholarship will be reported dormant during this time. The scholarship holder can make up the missed classes using the online campus recording. The individual lessons with the professors cannot be made up. The scholarship holder has no right to a continuation of the scholarship after more than 1 month of absence. It must then be reassessed by the Academy whether it is possible to continue the scholarship
  • Should a scholarship holder fail an exam or audition, the right is reserved to end the scholarship at the day of the failed exam. The student keeps the right to continue studying as a regular student from that point on
  • After each completed trimester, the Academy can check whether the eligibility criteria continue to be met

Funding will end when:

  • the maximum period of support has been reached by the end of the standard period of study (8 trimester if not agreed on differently)
  • the scholarship report is submitted late or not at all
  • the trimester or yearly end-of-term examinations are not passed
  • the student behaves inappropriately towards teachers, fellow students or third parties
  • the student leaves the academy
  • the student has more than 3 absences in one module without a medical certificate
  • not enough funding is available and no further granting of the scholarship is possible

Obligations upon receipt of a scholarship at the Werner & Marlene Schöder Foundation International Online Trumpet Academy (WBA)

By accepting a scholarship from the Werner & Marlene Schöder Foundation International Online Trumpet Academy (WBA), I agree to participate in the entire program of study up to the final exam scheduled therein and to pass all examinations required. In addition, I commit myself to provide regularly all demanded records (documentation of practice work, learning progress, etc.). Finally, I will immediately inform Prof. Otto Sauter or Prof. Sabine Kierdorf (UFAM) of the Werner & Marlene Schöder Foundation International Online Trumpet Academy (WBA) if I quit or interrupt the program of study prematurely. I acknowledge that in case I interrupt the program of study ahead of schedule, I can be obliged to pay back all or part of the scholarship costs that have been spent for my education. An exception to this rule is a termination of the program of study if a full-time equivalent permanent position as a trumpet player in a professional orchestra or as a salaried teacher can be proved.
