BIOGRAPHY Simone Candotto, Trobone

Simone Candotto (Hamburg, Germany), born in 1969 in Palmanova (UD), began his first theory lessons in the brass band in Castions di Strada (DU) in 1978 and received his first trombone lessons there in early 1979, followed by his first performance.

 

From 1981 to 1987 Simone studied trombone at the Conservatory “J. Tomadini ”with Prof. Giuseppe Bonomo and Giovanni Caratti. In 1987 he completed his trombone studies with top marks.

 

From 1988 to 1997 Simone studied at various music academies in Germany, including the Trossingen Music Academy and Freiburg Music Academy with Prof. Branimir Slokar, and the Hanover Music Academy with Prof. Jonas Bylund. At the same time, he receives lessons from other teachers, among others. by Prof. Arnold Jacobs in Chicago (USA).

 

While studying in Germany, Simone is a member of several youth orchestras. These include the Junge Deutsche Philharmonie, the Schleswig-Holstein Music Festival Orchestra, the ECYO (now EUYO), the Orchestra of the Festival Aix-en Provence and the Lucerne Festival Orchestra (1994).

 

From 1993 to 1997 Simone was trombonist at the orchestra of the Kassel State Theater and since September 1997 he has been working as a solo trombonist in the NDR Elbphilharmonie Orchestra in Hamburg.

 

Various orchestras have already offered him a collaboration: the Orchestra del Gran Teatro “La Fenice” in Venice, the Orchestra da camera di Padova e del Veneto, the Orchestra Filarmonica “A. Toscanini ”by Parma, the Orchestra Sinfonica della RAI in Torino, the Orchestra of the Bavarian State Opera in Munich, the Orchestra of the Hamburg State Opera, the Ensemble Modern from Frankfurt, the Orchestra Filarmonica della Scala, the Orquesta Filarmonica de Gran Canaria and the Berlin Philharmonic.

 

Simone is a finalist in various international trombone competitions, such as the 1st IPV Trombone Competition in Berlin, the Concorso Citta 'di Porcia (I) and the international music competition “Prague Spring” in 1997, where he received the award for the best performance of the Sonata Angelica by Ivana Ludova in the Czech Contemporary Music section.

 

In 1996 Simone won first prize at the International Brass Competition in Gdansk.

 

Simone is also a lecturer and has already given master classes in Italy, Switzerland, Japan, Argentina and Brazil.
