Franz Wagnermeyer (Schärding, Austria) received his musical education at the Bruckner Conservatory Linz and the Vienna Conservatory with Professor Adolf Holler. He graduated in 1992, unanimously granted with distinction, was awarded with the Appreciation Prize of the Austrian Federal Ministry of Science and Research and given the chance to perform a solo concert in the Vienna Konzerthaus. In the following years, Franz Wagnermeyer, perfected his studies with Bo Nilsson (Malmö), Pierre Thibeaud (Paris) and Otto Sauter (Bremen).
Franz Wagnermeyer plays with many different ensembles and orchestras in Austria, Germany and abroad. He has played with the Tonkünstler Orchestra of Lower Austria, the Radio Symphony Orchestra of Vienna, the Vienna Symphony Orchestra, the Bruckner Orchestra Linz and the Opera Orchestra of Regensburg. He has also been engaged by the Salzburg Festival, “Neue Oper Wien” and the Vienna Chamber Orchestra.
His artistic activities enclose vast soloistic and chamber - musical activity with organ, piano or harpsichord as well as with different chamber orchestras. He gives concerts at renowned festivals such as the Beethovenfest in Bonn, Musica Sacra in Rome, the Wartburg Festival, the Shanghai Spring International Music Festival and the Shenzhen/ Hongkong Music Festival. His engagements have taken him in addition to the Euroepan countries to Turkey, Japan, Korea, Taiwan, China, Australia, the USA and Canada.
Franz Wagnermeyer has played on numerous CD and radio recordings with EMI Classics and Brilliant Classics with “ Otto Sauter & Ten of the Best” and Otto Sauter (“The Trumpet in Vienna”, “The Trumpet in Salzburg”, the complete trumpet concertos of Teleman and Molter with the “Capella Istropolitana”, the Chamber Orchestra Mannheim and the Bremen Philharmonic Orchestra). In 2008 his second CD "Festivo" for solo trumpet and organ recorded on the famous “Bruckner organ” of St. Florian was published. In his work as a music pedagogue, he has been invited to speak at numerous international seminars, including Illinois State University, master classes in Japan (Osaka, Nagoya, Tokio) and China (Shenzhen), Bruckner University Linz, Mid Europe in Schladming,Summer Workshop Bad Goisern. Since 2010 he workes as te acher for the brass section of the Central European Youth Orchestra in Italy.
With 2 colleagues, he published a book for trumpet education, which was published by Heavy Brass.
