Dates & Deadline for starting to Study January 10

  • August 20 is the deadline for submitting applications for the entrance audition
  • August 25 starts the period for the entrance audition

 

Dates & Deadline for starting to Study September 20

  • December 10 is the deadline for submitting applications for the entrance audition
  • December 15 starts the period for the entrance audition

 

Application

 

Registration, Feedback & Communication:

  • The registration for the live audition takes place via the online portal on the homepage 
  • Participants will receive all feedback by email
  • After admission as Academy student, each student receives an academy e-mail address, which is used for all study-related communication.

 

Admission requirements:

  • Passing the 2-step admission process including the live audition (the jury determines only the passing or failing of the examination)
  • Age: between 17 and 25 years (exception: young student program for highly talented trumpeters already from the age of 13).
  • Sufficient knowledge of English (in exceptional cases, a translator organized by the student may be present during the first two trimesters. After this period, however, the student must be able to understand the lessons and express himself/herself on his/her own).

 

Documents to be uploaded in the application portal:

  • Scan of identity card (front & backside on 1 page, Max 1 MB, PDF)
  • Artist photo/ application photo (color photo/ jpeg, 300 dpi, 1200x1600 pixel)
  • Curriculum vitae (in English, max. 1 MB, 1 page, PDF)
  • School certificate (school-leaving certificate or last school certificate, max. 4 MB, in 1 PDF)
  • Music certificates (competitions, master classes, awards etc. max. 4 MB, in 1 PDF)
  • Motivation letter (in English, max. 1 page, PDF, Arial 11)
  • Video recordings: (1 unlisted YouTube link)

All documents must be in English (documents in other languages must be accompanied by a translation. This can be done by the applicant. Notarization is not necessary)

 

All documentation must be submitted in its entirety. Claims of qualifications cannot be considered without proof documentation. Missing documents will not be requested. Applications not submitted in due time and form cannot be considered.

 

 

Admission procedure & Live Entrance Audition

 

The admission procedure consists of 2 steps: 

  • First step: Videorecording to be submitted. The first decision of the Academy about who will be admitted to the second step of the selection process, is made based on a submitted video recording
  • Second step: Live audition - online (Zoom or WeChat/ Voov for China etc.) or in person

Videorecording repertoire to be performed: 

Choice by applicant/ all pieces are to be performed in one piece.

 

Classical: 

Joseph Haydn: Trumpet Concerto in E flat major 

or 

Johann Nepomuk Hummel: Trumpet Concerto in E flat major

 

Modern: 

Oskar, Böhme: Trumpet Concerto, Op.18 

or 

Paul Hindemith: Trumpet Sonata 

 

Second step: Live Audition - online or in person

 

The admitted applicant can take part online or in person.

The live audition will take place in front of an examination jury.

Please indicate in the application form, which kind of audition you would like to pass online or in person.

 

Online Live Audition 

The entrance audition will take place as a live online conference via Zoom (or WeChat/ Voov for China etc.)

 

In Person Live Audition

On the following dates, the audition can be held in person in the following places during the

World & European Brass Association Summer Academies:

 

  • August 18/19 Paris/Courances, France
  • August 22/23 Leuven, Belgium
  • August 26/27 Eisenach, Germany

Piccolo Trumpet:

Piece of applicant’s own choice

 

Video Creation Guidelines & Upload Requirements:  

  • HD video/audio 
  • Both works are to be performed in one piece and recorded in one video only. The video must run through and must not be edited, i.e., any mistakes or pauses must be left in the video.
  • The camera image shall be like indicated below (horizontal camera position/ camera perspective: American) 
    Private Videos are accepted/ camera has to stand on e.g., tripod / please provide sufficient light) 
  • Upload your video to YouTube as unlisted video (not public)
  • YouTube link to be submitted via the registration form (Chinese applicants can apply for a link, where they can upload their video)
